Q: How did you meet? Tell us about the proposal.

A: We were both in grad school getting our MBAs at UNC Chapel Hill. We got randomly placed on the same “study group” and met on the first day of class. We knew very soon this was serious and we were married after 1.5 years of meeting. The proposal was simple, but very “us”. We went to the store and picked up the ring together, and then he took it home with him. That same night he came over for dinner and proposed right away - he said he didn’t like not seeing it on my finger after having seeing it on haha. Not a big scene, but really romantic.

Q: What was the most anticipated or special moment of your wedding day?

A: The ceremony. We just really wanted to be married and whenever we got that question before the big day we would just say “we just want to be together” and people would be like “awww that’s cute but really are you excited about the XYZ??” And xyz would be anything from honeymoon to pictures to the party. But we just really wanted to be married and start this new exciting new phase of our lives. We also chose not to do a first look, so the first time I saw him that day was really emotional and exciting! I couldn’t stop smiling hah.

Q: Do you have any wedding planning or marriage advice that you'd like to share with other couples planning their day?

A: Don’t over think the small stuff. Pick the big things that matter to you, and remind yourself that it shouldn’t be about having a Pinterest perfect wedding - it’s about you and your spouse and the people that you picked to be there celebrating with you. We were very lucky and had no issues happening during the planning or the actual day, but I think it was mostly because we were happy with whatever - we just wanted to get married!
