The Sutherland Wake Forest Wedding
The Sutherland Wake Forest Wedding.
Ashley and Steven had a quintessential Southern wedding at The Sutherland in Wake Forest, North Carolina. This eighteenth century property boasts ancient oaks, large magnolia trees, and stunning gardens for all to savor. And the couple made sure it was a personalized affair from start to finish.
Ashley chose a pair of sparkling silver heels to walk down the aisle. They were a glittering glimpse into her bridal style.
The colors for the day included navy blue, dark pink, and blush. The flower arrangements for many aspects of the wedding featured various types of pink and white roses.
The blonde-haired bride couldn’t look more radiant if she tried. She chose a V-neck gown with ample pearl and crystal beading - a style that couldn't be missed.
Because monograms are special to a Southern girl, Ashley had each bridesmaid’s bouquet personalized with a monogrammed ribbon.
And to match, each lady got ready in a monogrammed robe. It made for a fun photo opportunity before the ceremony, too.
Although the couple didn’t see each other before the wedding, they did exchange special letters. Sarah Morrel captured this special moment as the couple stood back-to-back with a door in between to read their heartfelt letters.
The Sutherland has several options for ceremony locations and Ashley and Steven chose to get married on the brick patio. It was a feast for the eyes. Tall floral arrangements bursting with color were placed at both the entrance and where the couple recited their vows.
The aisle was decorated with a swirling design of petals and was roped off with bold colored ribbon. Each chair along the aisle was decorated with a dark pink ribbon and blue hydrangea nosegay.
The couple’s monogram also made an appearance on the ceremony programs.
Steven was in awe of Ashley. He was dressed in a gray suit with a blue striped tie and couldn’t contain his excitement as he watched his bride walk down the aisle.
There wasn’t a dry eye in the house as the two exchanged vows. It was a sweet and special moment for the couple and all of their guests.
Everyone cheered as the couple shared their first kiss and exited the ceremony as husband and wife.
In front of the venue’s grandiose house, the bridal party took group photos before the reception.
The groomsmen matched Steven in gray suits and striped ties. The bridesmaids looked delightful in short blue dresses with unique white detail. They all wore their hair in sophisticated updos and chose gold heels to complete their looks.
With the sun just starting to set, the photographer captured incredible photos of the couple outside. Their elated expressions spoke volumes about how they were feeling.
Guests were greeted with quite the ingenious escort card display. Two wooden shutters held the guests’ name cards while a chalkboard in the center named the entire bridal party.
The couple also had a memorial table to commemorate the important weddings and family members they hold dear.
Inside, the venue boasts incredible wooden beams. String lights are hung in the rafters to add a certain softness to the ceiling. Expansive windows around the reception room offered guests wonderful views of the lush exterior.
Round reception tables were covered with white linens and decorated with tall centerpieces, white dinner plates, navy blue napkins, and gold flatware.
The bride and groom’s chairs were earmarked with special “bride” and “groom” signs just for the occasion.
The wedding desserts were splendid. Charming trays of cupcakes in scalloped pink liners were placed about the table, along with a small one-tier cake just for the couple. And of course, their monogram was included!
They also offered guests monogrammed cookies and mini key lime pies, too! It was a sweet way to celebrate Ashley and Steven.
Guests were encouraged to find their way to the dance floor where everyone enjoyed dancing the night away. The bride even changed into a chic short dress to enjoy the party in a more fun and comfortable style.
The couple left the reception in a stunning sparkler exit and were all smiles as they made their way out.
This Sutherland wedding was everything Ashley and Steven dreamed it would be. Immaculate weather, an amazing venue, lots of love from family and friends, and a few unique touches helped them celebrate in complete Southern style.
