Lowndes Grove Wedding With Greenery And Gold
From Catherine Ann Photography ... Mike is a history nut & Katherine loves the LowCountry, so Lowndes Grove was the perfect culmination of both things with the big old house right on the marsh!
Katherine & her closest friends (no bridal party for these two!) got ready at Lowndes Grove and after she stepped into her dress she lifted up the hem and told me that she had a scrap of her mothers wedding dress sewn on…and a scrap of HER dress was sewn into her moms jacket! How sweet is that? She also wore her grandmothers engagement ring on her right hand. The couple shared a first look on the upper porch of the house where Mike showed off his fun bourbon themed socks.
The ceremony was so beautiful, and Im not just talking about the marshy backdrop. Mike’s father passed away but he was given an honorary seat with a rose and hammer & the couple wrote their own vows which they laughed and cried during. After their first kiss, they split off to hug and kiss family members in the front row.
The reception space was a green & gold wonderland; the head table was a couple of farm tables with a long green centerpiece with spray painted gold magnolia leaves and gold candles. Instead of a standard guest book, Katherine & Mike provided pieces of fabric for guests to sign for a quilt, and once the sun had set Mike’s Bourbon Bar was open for business! I love that they created a space for him to share his favorite drink with all their friends and family.
