Downtown Spartanburg Engagement
Downtown Spartanburg Engagement.
Anna and Carter have one of those special connections that make even the toughest of dating situations an easy choice. These two met through a mutual friend while living in two different cities and did the whole long-distance thing only seeing each other for a few hours a week just to spend any time they could get with each other! And to this day Carter continues to drive to Spartanburg daily just so he can come home to Anna in Charlotte at night! Seriously just the sweetest and if that’s not love then I don’t know what is!
Their dates have taken them on so many adventures together from their favorite sports bars to the charming downtown Spartanburg where Carter proposed to Anna at the AC Hotel. Most of all though these two just love spending time together at home.
When planning Anna and Carter’s engagement session Anna knew right away that she wanted to capture their engagement memories in downtown Spartanburg. They both love the historic feel of the downtown and all the unique locations and art scattered around the streets! It was the perfect choice for a fun evening exploring the streets and capturing their love!
We started their session in Morgan Square and hit some of their favorite spots such as Fr8yard , the art-filled walkways, and the AC Hotel. And we couldn’t have asked for a better evening. It was the perfect fall weather with the brightest of blue skies!
From Anna & Carter:
1) How long have you been together? Three years as of this October
2) Hobbies? Binge-watching Grace & Frankie. And also freelance writing. Carter builds double basses (aka he's a woodworker) in his workshop during his spare time. We're homebodies, but the promise of wine (for me) and wings (for Carter) can lure us away from home. We're both big key-lime pie fans.
3) How did he propose? Carter and Anna were spending the weekend at the brand new AC Hotel in Spartanburg to celebrate Anna’s 30th birthday. Turns out that besides celebrating birthdays, the AC Hotel is also great for proposals.
The couple was sitting at a high-top table outside on the 10th-floor bar of the hotel. Anna, holding Carter’s hand, told him how happy she was to be turning 30 with Carter and Sydney (her dog) in her life. Carter got teary-eyed and walked around the table to give Anna a hug. “You make me so happy too," he said. "I hope you’ll make me the happiest man in the world.”
“Pshh,” Anna snapped back, playfully hitting Carter's arm. “That’s what people say when they’re getting engaged.” Turning to sit back in her chair, she added, “You scared me. For a second I thought you were proposing!” By the time she finished that sentence, Carter was already down on his knee. He pulled the ring from his pocket. “Anna will you marry me?”
Still not convinced this was actually happening, Anna clarified, “Is this for real?” Carter assured her it was. Overcome by shock, happiness, and love, Anna started crying. Poor Carter, still on his knee, patiently waited for the customary “Yes.” Hugs, tears, champaign, laughter, and a few Tums followed.
4) What are your favorite things to do as a couple? Home repairs, outings to our local sports bar, snuggling on the couch with our dog (Sydney).
5) What is your ideal date night? Walk About Wednesdays at Outback. You get a drink, steak, and a side for $10. We like easy and fun activities that come with unlimited free bread.
6) If you could have a date anywhere in the world, where would it be? Paris - full of romance (and unlimited bread LOL)
7) What is your favorite thing about each other?
Anna: Carter really loves spending time with me. He looks forward to me coming home. It's nice to be with someone who likes to be with you!
Carter: Anna is hilarious and always makes me smile.
