Fueled by his complete confidence in God, Deluxe displays an insatiable passion and undeniable talent that have allowed him to become North Carolina’s premiere DJ!
Born in Wilmington, NC and raised in Greensboro, Deluxe was introduced to music in the den of his parent’s house. His father played records from the likes of Tom Browne, Rick James, Prince and Maze. By the age of 13, he was actively rocking house parties. His early influences were Grand Master Flash, DJ Jazzy Jeff, Superb DJ K-Nyce, and DJ Polo. During this period, DJ Deluxe developed his talents daily. Instead of playing outside in the sandbox with the other kids, he had his own sandbox in his bedroom with 2 turntables in it.
In 1995, DJ Deluxe hooked up with fellow DJ’s at NC State and landed his first radio show at the college station WKNC 88. It was during this time that Deluxe would make a name for himself as one of the hot, up and coming DJ’s in Raleigh-Durham. It was only logical that he transition into the clubs and opening up for shows. By the time he graduated in 2000, Deluxe had captured hard earned credibility and respect, distinguishing himself as a trendsetter. Within months, DJ Deluxe was offered a Saturday night mix-show at WQOK K97.5.
Deluxe put his stamp on the market, by creating the 1st ever, nightly mix-show, “The 10 O’clock Mixdown”. He also pioneered the highly successful live broadcast show, “Live from the Limelight”. Every Saturday for 3 yrs, he rocked hundreds of people in front of him and kept hundreds of thousands tuned in to the radio for 4 hrs straight!
