Chapel Hill Countryside Wedding.
Q: Tell us about your wedding! What was the inspiration behind your day? Did you have a specific theme, style or color palette? Did you incorporate any cultural or religious traditions in any part of your day?
A: Our wedding was truly a dream. I wanted it to be timeless, romantic, elegant but a little whimsical. I just wanted it to truly relate Taylor and I as a couple. We wrote our own vows for our ceremony, short & sweet! The main thing we really wanted to incorporate in the ceremony and the reception were our dads. Taylor and I both have lost our fathers and it was important to feel their presence. I had a piece of my dad's favorite sheet wrapped around my bridal bouquet with my new monogram MGR, which also happens to be my dad's initials (Mark Grey Raines). Taylor wore his dad's watch that he inherited. We wrote a note to them in our program, and my brother brought them up in his welcome toast at the reception. Taylor and I also danced to my parents first dance song, Just the Way You Are by Billy Joel.
Q: What was the most anticipated or special moment of your wedding day?
A: Seeing Taylor for the first time! Honestly, I'm very introverted, so I was so nervous on our wedding day, but the ceremony was everything. I will remember his vows to me for the rest of my life.
Q: Do you have any wedding planning or marriage advice that you'd like to share with other couples planning their day?
A: Just be true to who you are as a couple! That way, no matter what, the day is yours.
